In the decade since the NFL Draft moved out of New York and became a traveling road show, cities have clamored to host the three-day circus.
BetVirginia.com, which offers real money Virginia sportsbook promo codes, developed hypothetical odds projecting where the 2027 NFL Draft will take place. Denver and Washington D.C. have submitted official bids to host the event in two years. This week’s NFL Draft is in Green Bay, Wisconsin; the 2026 event is set for Pittsburgh.
Location | Odds | Percent Chance |
Denver, CO | +100 | 50.0% |
Washington D.C. | +150 | 40.0% |
Charlotte, NC | +1800 | 5.3% |
The Field | +2050 | 4.7% |
We created these odds for BetVirginia.com and they are not available with Virginia sports betting operators.
The NFL Draft began in 1936 and rotated among several host cities until 1965, when it settled in for a five-decade run in New York.
Washington D.C. hosted the draft just once, in 1941, at the Willard Hotel. Of course, nowadays it’s a huge party; this week’s draft will be in and around Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers.
The Washington Commanders Super Bowl odds are longer than the city’s odds of holding the 2027 Draft, but the team’s resurgence in 2024 has made them a team to watch. Will the franchise’s sudden success, and excitement surrounding Rookie of the Year quarterback Jayden Daniels, factor into the league’s decision for a draft site in two years?
The other city that has officially submitted a bid to host the 2027 NFL Draft is Denver.
Both Washington and Denver boast rabid fanbases. D.C. offers hotel rooms galore and a convenient East Coast location that fans can easily reach from big markets such as New York (site of the league office) and Philadelphia.
On the other hand, the NFL Draft has only been west of Texas once: In 2022, when Las Vegas hosted the three-day event. The league could decide that the West is overdue for more drafts and Denver would offer a location between the Midwest and the West Coast. We have made Denver the slight favorite with +100 odds, compared to +150 for D.C.
