BetVirginia.com wanted to celebrate Pride Month by finding what NFL teams are the most LGBTQIA+ inclusive. We created a scoring system based on the number of pride posts on Instagram and X, whether or not the team has a pride logo set, along with the LGBTQIA+ safety of each state and city the team plays in as of 2025.
Rank | Team | Total Points |
1 | Buffalo Bills | 290 |
2 | Los Angeles Rams | 199 |
3 | San Francisco 49ers | 172 |
4 | Chicago Bears | 165 |
5 | Los Angeles Chargers | 159 |
6 | New York Giants | 146 |
7 | Minnesota Vikings | 145 |
T8 | Green Bay Packers | 135 |
T8 | Baltimore Ravens | 135 |
10 | Washington Commanders | 120 |
Richmond, Virginia, not far from where the Commanders play, ranked No. 12 at the ListWithClever.com site, which in late 2023 ranked 50 of the largest American cities based on a variety of metrics measuring LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Washington D.C. itself ranked No. 24 on the list.
We took a break from Virginia sports betting analysis to compute these scores for NFL teams that promote LGBTQIA+ inclusive issues.
While there are plenty of steps that professional sports teams across the men’s ‘Big Four leagues (the MLB, NBA, NFL and NHL) can take to build a more inclusive environment for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, that’s not to say that organizations like the Washington Commanders aren’t doing their fair share to be good allies overall.
Between the various metrics used for our survey, BetVirginia.com found that Washington had the 10th most points of any NFL team, at 120, thanks to the team’s outreach towards the LGBTQIA+ community and the safety for community members in the Washington D.C. region. While that point total paled in comparison with the 146 that Washington scored during our Pride Month survey from last year, it still shows how strong Washington’s commitment is to building an equitable football fandom environment in 2025 and beyond.
Overall, the Commanders finished behind NFL leaders like the Buffalo Bills, who blew the rest of the NFL out of the water in terms of LGBTQIA+ allyship with a total score of 290 points, nearly 100 ahead of the closest club (the Los Angeles Rams, with 199 points).
Throw in clubs like the San Francisco 49ers (172 points), Chicago Bears (165 points), Los Angeles Chargers (159 points), New York Giants (146 points), Minnesota Vikings (145 points), Green Bay Packers and the Baltimore Ravens (135 points each) and you have the NFL’s ally list covered.
For fans of the Commanders, the team’s outreach into the LGBTQIA+ community is paying off, as Washington enters Pride Month as one of the strongest allies in the 32-team league in 2025.
Many NFL teams participate in pride Month by sharing supportive messages, rainbow-themed logos, and LGBTQIA+ allyship content on their social media platforms, However, the level of engagement and authenticity varies. Teams in more progressive cities often post more inclusive content and take additional steps such as hosting pride-themed events or community outreach events.
In 2025, some of the safest and most LGBTQIA+- friendly cities for NFL fans include San Francisco (49ers), Seattle (Seahawks), and Chicago (Bears). These cities score high in equality indexes, have local protections for LGBTQIA+ rights, and are known for inclusive cultures that extend to their sports venues and fan experiences.
LGBTQIA+ allyship in the NFL promotes inclusivity, combats discrimination, and ensures that all fans, players, and staff feel safe and respected. In a league with massive cultural influence, public support during Pride Month and beyond helps normalize acceptance and highlights the importance of diversity in sports.
