With St. Patrick’s Day having just come and gone, many Americans went out and enjoyed their favorite pint of choice to celebrate the occasion, which got us wondering which brew Virginians choose the most.

In the Commonwealth, a quintet of worldwide beer brewing corporations, including Anheuser Busch, Grupo Modelo and Molson Coors are among the brewers of the state’s favorite suds, illustrating how concentrated market share has gotten in the beer market.

With National Beer Day fast approaching on April 7, BetVirginia.com took a beat from Virginia sportsbooks and wanted to know what beers have the highest brand awareness in the Old Dominion state. Utilizing Google Trends, we ranked the search volume interest scores in Virginia from the top 10 American beer brands according to a recent survey from Statista. The top 5 from those results are the following:

Which Beer Brand Do Virginia Residents Prefer Most?

Overall, the top beer brands in Virginia are Bud Light and Corona, with Google Trends search interest scores of 12, followed by Mexican monolith Modelo (10 search interest score), Blue Moon and Budweiser (7 search interest score each).

Of the five, Bud Light and Budweiser are both brewed by Anheuser Busch, which is the wholly owned St. Louis based subsidiary of AB InBev, which is based in Leuven, Belgium.

The other three are made by Grupo Modelo of Mexico City (Modelo) and Molson Coors (Blue Moon), with the latter based out of Chicago (with a secondary headquarters in Montreal, Canada).

Regardless of which style of beer is your go-to, it seems certain that millions of Virginia residents will go to their fridge and pull out their suds of choice come April 7, in honor of America’s ever-growing love affair with the bubbly beverage.
