When it comes to once-in-a-lifetime moments, many of us have items that we prioritize. They can range from the grandiosity of traveling across oceans to faraway locales, to taking up a new and exciting pastime like surfing or scuba diving.
In the Old Dominion, the home of Virginia sports betting, it seems residents are definitely interested in “hanging 10” because learning to surf was the item most listed in a survey of “bucket list” items in the state. Surfing had the highest search interest score of any activity online, at 47; other milestones such as buying a house (46 search interest score) and getting married (44) were other top items. Here is the list, with an explanation below:
BetVirginia.com brings you lifestyle stories as well as the reviews of Virginia sportsbook apps that you seek.
National Bucket List Day is April 24. BetVirginia decided to see what Virginia residents dream of doing before they die. Starting with a list of top bucket list ideas from BucketList.net, we used Google Trends to see which ranked the highest according to search interest score. The search period was between April 15, 2004 and April 15, 2024. Search interest score is compared to other topics searched.
After surfing, getting married and buying a house, the other top things on the typical Virginian’s bucket lost were going scuba diving (33 search interest score) and skydiving (17). You don’t have to make out a wish list to wager on sports in the state, and BetVirginia.com offers the best Virginia sportsbook promotions when you sign up.
Throw in a trip to Northern Arizona’s Grand Canyon National Park (16 search interest score), writing a book (15), ziplining (14), running a marathon (11) and getting a tattoo (two) and you have the top 10 items on the commonwealth’s collective bucket list.
Luckily for Virginians, other than a relatively cheap airplane fare to Phoenix and a three-hour drive on Interstate 17 and I-40, the rest of the state’s items are relatively easy to do. There is plenty of water to explore and skydiving companies that operate throughout the state. Some simply want to see their local NFL team win another Super Bowl in this lifetime. Regardless of what items Virginia residents long to accomplish before they go, it seems like there’s company to be found in the shared goals that many residents have when it comes to the items they wish to see and do in the future.
