New York-based Fanatics Betting and Gaming continued its state-by-state migration on Tuesday with the launch of the Fanatics Sportsbook Virginia. The Old Dominion becomes the seventh state where bettors can place sports wagers with Fanatics.

The Fanatics Sportsbook app is now available online in Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia. The quick launch across seven states was partly made possible after Fanatics acquired PointsBet USA, an online sportsbook that launched in Virginia in December 2021.

In August 2023, Fanatics began acquiring the U.S. businesses of PointsBet and planned the migration of PointsBet customers to the Fanatics Sportsbook app.

Fanatics announced Monday that PointsBet would cease operations in Virginia on Tuesday at 12:30 a.m. The new Fanatics Sportsbook came online in Virginia on Tuesday afternoon. The company said it planned on integrating the best parts of the PointsBet tech platform to supercharge its Virginia sports betting engine.

PointsBet Transitions to Fanatics

PointsBet customers in Virginia were able to log into the new Fanatics Sportsbook using their old account details. Sports fans living in and visiting Virginia will be able to download Fanatics Sportsbook on iOS and Android and begin their Fanatics experience. New customers can sign up and research the moneyline bets, point spread bets, over-unders, player props, live in-game betting markets, and the always popular Same Game Parlay bets.

This week, customers will be able to take part in Rewards Surge, seven days of big Virginia betting apps offers to celebrate all the games over Thanksgiving weekend.

“We are laser-focused on solving pain points facing customers by offering a faster, easier, and more rewarding sports betting experience,” said Scot McClintic, chief product officer at Fanatics Betting and Gaming.

Fanatics said they aim to disrupt the sports betting industry by offering a few new features and designs to users.

“The design, speed and quality of the navigation experience rival the sports betting apps in the market today that were not built specifically for iOS and Android,” the company said.
